Will My Havanese And Shih Tzu Coat Grow Back?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Hello I have a four months old Havanese and Shih Tzu mix dog. He is non shredding dog but as novice owner with long hair dog I clipped his hair short but maybe a bit too short? But there is still a inch of hair on his body. I wont shave my dog down I prefer it be short than actually shave it.
My question is that would he grow his natural color again as he was before being clipped? He was tri color. Now hes more of light color and gray… still look beatiful but just wonder if he would grow his tri color coat again? It have been a month and his coat have grow back i am not going to clip it because its almost winter time. I will just take him to groomer to have it even out.

This reminds me of one client, she got her shih tzu shaved and it took every member of the staff signing a piece of paper that said it was the same dog before she believed us. Shih tzus often have fur that changes color as it gets longer, it may never look exactly the same shade, but that’s just your mind playing tricks on you. Give it a few months he’ll be dark again.
I have a shih tzu and no matter how short I clip her, she always grows back the same tri color she was before I ever clipped her. Don’t worry.
I like the look of a havanese. They are so cute.
Duh it will grow back.
