Ah I love this question! Your puppy is ready to be fixed now, actually! However, most vets will require that your puppy be up to date on shots, but you seem like a responsible animal owner, so I don’t think you have any worries there. also it has to be about 6 weeks after certain shots. Never hesitate to call your vet, they’re always happy to answer all your questions.

your baby is old enough now. Have the vet check his shot records while you are there.

  3. dogtrnrl says:

Your dog is old enough at 6 months of age although some places will do it as early as 2 or 3 months old. I recommend to do it by 6months old. If you wait longer your male will begin developing the marking, mounting, and dominate behaviors that intact males can exhibit and once they become a habit neutering will not change the effects. I definitley recommend it before a year of age. So sometime soon would be good.

You can get your dog fixed before it reaches sexual maturity, or you can wait. But I recommend sooner rather than later.

it should be a good time now.
    usually around 5-6 month window.

  6. Joh: think outside the bag says:

As soon as you can make the appointment.
    Well done!

i would suggest as soon as possible. 6 mo is the recommended age because they can handle the drugs and they haven’t been affected to much by the testoterone. i had all 3 of my boys nuetered at 6 mo. they were lathargic four a couple of days but they were back to their old selves in no time. my adopted rescue husky was already neutered when i got him

  8. Ssanna says:

Our vet said at 5 months to prevent accidents happening as some dogs will be a little earlier than others (most reach maturity at about 6 months)

  9. Pink lover says:

as soon as you can i mean im not really sure when

  10. The Nikki says:

I’d get your dog fixed asap, generally male dogs are neutered before they reach puberty (which is 6 months). Here’s some good info I used when doing research about fixing my pets http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_can…
    Good luck!

  11. Stephanie Loves Sam says:

most vets reccomend u do it at 6 months of age

  12. rescue member says:

It is time to get him neutered – it could have been done a couple of months ago already.
The younger the dog, the easier it is.
I’ve had lots of dogs neutered and spayed, the young puppies are up and running the next day as if nothing happened.
