Always do research in the breed you’re looking into before you buy.
Havanese are prone to more eye problems, that’s what I’ve heard. Research it big time, and talk to a few reputable breeders, and have them tell you about the breed and their needs.
Havanese are great dogs. I don’t know what some of the other people are talking about health issues, but they ARE the most health tested in the AKC.
They are great with children and do not yap, but only bark when someone is at the door. They are not too high strung, but they love to play, especially with other Havanese.
They are sturdy and are kind of like little clowns that want to make you laugh
If you decide on a Havanese, make sure it comes from a reputable breeder that does health testing. Don’t buy a “cheap” Havanese without health tested parents now, only to have heartache and more costs in the future if they do develop a health issue.
I own two Havanese and one is named LILY. http://www.colinahavanese.com

A responisible owner would want to look up links, not just go on other people opinions, other peoples opinion of these best children dogs may not suit your lifestyle.
The best place is a Shelter-they know what breed will suit your lifestyle
Animals Shelters are the BEST PLACE
Make sure you choose a breed suited to your lifestyle, don’t make your choose on the cute factor, fluffy factor, breed alone or colour.don’t buy from a petstore.
NEVER BUY FROM A PETSTORE
PUPPY INSIDE PETSTORE ARE FROM PUPPY MILLS
A reliable breeder would never sell to a petstore, where as a backyard breeder&puppy mill would

They are really neat little dogs, I have one and know a bunch of them.
They are sturdy, happy little dogs. They don’t yap alot and are great around kids, cats and other dogs.
They are the MOST health tested breed in the AKC.
The Havanese is an old Cuban breed, but they have only been recognized by AKC for about 11 years, not too many in PMs or BYBs. (We are trying very hard to keep it that way!!!

Depends on the pedigree. But honestly, I’ve seen more Havanese come in with skin, eye, ear, breathing etc. problems than I could shake a stick at.
All dogs can have medical issue… but this one was up there.
If you’re interested still, just contact reputable breeders and see what type of health guarantee they can give you.
I have an almost 4 month Havanese puppy and I can’t say enough positive things about him. He is WONDERFUL!
Calm and gentle but playful enough. Not yappy or hyper and has a beautiful temperment and personality and was practically trained when I brought him home. He has brought us so much joy.
Just make sure you buy from a very, very reputable breeder. That’s key. There are a lot of puppy mills out there that pawn themselves off as breeder, so beware. And never, never buy from a pet store or boutique pet shop.
If you research it and do it right, you won’t be disappointed.
