I know that I really have to meet the ones, but I want you guys’ opinion. On my last question, I got a mean and insultingly idiotic answer, so please… don’t. However, for those who want to help becasue I really can’t decide, thanks. 🙂
I have a Tzu and just adore her. She was a little stubborn on the house training. I bought the puppy pads and put them by the doors. She liked them but would only use them once. I just kept a good cleaner at hand. Her accidents got farther and farther apart. They need to go out at least 4-5 times a day. She loves everybody, rarely barks. She eats BilJack dog food once a day in the evening. They get hot real easy so they are definitely an inside dog. The grooming is a job. Especially if you let her hair grow. I keep mine short except for her ears and tail. Even those have to be brushed every day. PetSmart charges 41$ to groom her. I have it done every 1 or 2 months. She only weighs 9pounds and is almost 5. I walk her every morning for about 20 minutes. Then she plays outside in the evening when it isnt too hot. I’ve loved all the dogs I’ve ever had but this one is so special. Don’t think I’ll have any other kind of dog. She is her mamas baby.
Please tell me about their temperant, grooming, and especially health. Thanks!!
Hello I have a four months old Havanese and Shih Tzu mix dog. He is non shredding dog but as novice owner with long hair dog I clipped his hair short but maybe a bit too short? But there is still a inch of hair on his body. I wont shave my dog down I prefer it be short than actually shave it.
My question is that would he grow his natural color again as he was before being clipped? He was tri color. Now hes more of light color and gray… still look beatiful but just wonder if he would grow his tri color coat again? It have been a month and his coat have grow back i am not going to clip it because its almost winter time. I will just take him to groomer to have it even out.
Here is some good research on both breeds. Read about them, write down all the pros and cons that you may have about each breed as you read about them, compare how many pros and cons that you’ve written about them, and pick the one that has more pros than cons. :0)
I am adopting a 3 month old Shih Tzu female puppy today from a rescue organization, she is one of the many dogs rescued from the puppymill bust in Jackson County, Georgia where the “breeder” is facing several animal cruelty charges. I have a 9 month old male Havaton, Grady (Havanese/Coton de Tulear) who is wonderful, sleeps through the night, was potty trained in four months and is excited about getting a new sister! But I understand Shih Tzu are typically pretty difficult to housebreak. Also, she was fixed 3 days ago so she’s probably going to be pretty sore. When is it okay to let her play with Grady?
