How Often Should U Tim A Havanese Dog’s Hair?

For pets the coat can be clipped short for easier care. If the coat is to be kept long it needs to be thoroughly brushed and combed at least twice a week. There is a lotion available to prevent the hair from splitting. Clip excess hair from between the pads of the feet. The feet themselves may be clipped to look round. Show dogs need a great deal more grooming. There is little to no shedding, so dead hair must be removed by brushing. Check the eyes and ears regularly. If the ears are not kept clean it is prone to get an ear infection. The beauty of a well groomed Havanese is that he still looks tousled and carefree. If you accustom your dog to nail clipping from puppy age, she should accept the routine as an adult. Teeth should be brushed weekly, and is also best started as a puppy.

My 12 Lb Havanese Ate Some Chicken Bones Tonight. What Should I Be Watching For? So Far She Seems Ok?

Well, with cooked chicken bones there is the concern of splintering which can cause choking. Fortunately she got them down alright. I would watch for vomiting, diarrhea, and any unusual behavior. Hopefully, she chewed them up well enough that there won’t be any problems digesting them. However, if she loses her appetite and starts acting ill call your vet right away.

My Havanese Puppy Is Coughing?

I got a havanese puppy today. She’s very friendly, happy and playful, but when she’s laying down she starts to cough. (It sounds like a snort, but she opens her mouth when she does it.) Does she have kennel cough? Or is she not coughing, but doing something else like a reverse sneeze?
I can’t take her to the vet until Monday, since they’re closed on weekends, but I’m definatly taking her. (She still needs a one more shot.)

Need Some Advice On Breeds… Havanese Or Westie?

I am getting a puppy and have narrowed it down to a Havanese or Westie. If you have personal experiences with either of these dogs, what are some of their pros/cons, and which breed would be the best?
Also, I am not going to a shelter and I am not looking for info cut and pasted from the internet… I can do that. Just interested in opinions from people who have actually owned one or the other. Thanks!

Why Hasn’t My Havanese Gone Into Heat?

My Havanese is 1 year and 3 weeks old and she has yet to have her first season. I am certain that I haven’t just failed to notice it since I have an intact male and hes never seemed interested even though he’s a proven stud. She is of normal weight and size, a beautiful healthy girl. Does anyone know why she hasn’t gone into heat?
