I Have A New Havanese Puppy. I Have To Crate Him At Night, And After A Week He Is Still Crying And Yowling!!?

The puppy is 11 weeks old. He is alone during the day from 7:30 – 2:30, but from that time on we have 5 kids that play and love on him to death! Shouldn’t he be tired? How much longer will he be yowling? Help!

Puppy In Crate???

Hi! My puppy is 10 mo old and she is in her crate from 7:30am, dog walker comes at 12:00pm for a 1/2 hour, and I get home around 5pm. When I come home, I take her for another walk bwn 15-30min (its winter and its cold). She has just recently started excessively barking at everything and anything and is having a hard time keeping herself occupied. I play with her a lot but it doesn’t seem to help much. Can it be that she is in the crate too long and its having an effect on her? I was thinking about leaving her out in the kitchen with her crate in there too for the day?? What do you think? She is potty trained and rarely has accidents but I’m not sure how she will do if out of the crate for a long period of time (and I really don’t want to use weewee pads). Could it be that she needs more exercise throughout the day? Oh- she is a Havanese (11lb small dog) and I keep Animal Planet on the TV for her all day. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Puppy Crate?

Since we brought our pup (5 month old Havanese) home she has been crate trained in a plastic petmate travel crate.and loves it! But the problem is is that she is getting big and cannot sit up, barely turn around, or stretch out b/c the crate is too small now. A friend of mine gave us a bigger wire crate but we tried it for about a week and she was scared to death of it ( its a large crate and she is only about 9 lbs). So, my question is…do I try a smaller wire crate or do I buy a larger plastic crate? I am also going back to work next week and she will be in the crate all day. I read that metal crates are better b/c of ventilation. Any advice? Thanks so much!
**Even though she weighs only 9 lbs., her body is long- 15 inches and she likes to really stretch out and then she is even longer.**

How Can I Get My Havanese Puppy To Sleep In His Crate – He Just Won’t Go In There?

We just got a 12 week havanese puppy – 1) he won’t even go near the crate – I’ve put treats in there and still won’t go near 2) He cries and barks all night long. Right now his room is the laundry room – that is where I have his crate. I put his toys in there as well as a treat. During the night he will cry/bark AND is destructive with the crate. He drags it by the soft blanket inside as if he hates the crate! Help!! I have heard crate training is the best – but I can’t even get him to feel comfortable in the crate.

Does Anyone Here Crate Train Their Puppies?

We are crate training our new Havanese and my wife wants to know whether it is a good idea to leave water in the crate or feed and water them in the morning and wait until she gets home from work to water and feed them more? She needs to get it housebroken ASAP since we both work (off for Christmas vacation at present).

My Havanese Puppy Is Now 16 Weeks – Is It Too Late To Crate Train Him?

He only likes being in his crate at night when we are all in bed – during the day he whines and cries when I put him in his crate. My goal is to have him do his “potty” outside only – I have heard that keeping him in his crate and taking him out only for “potty” is effective. Can I start this method if I have had my puppy now for over 3 weeks?
