Potty Training And Supplies?

I was browsing through some sites and products. I am getting a Havanese/Rat Terrier mix pup. She was abandoned along with 3 siblings at our vets office with a note. They may have a picture of the owner since they cell phone store next door has a camera. Anyway. I was looking with my mom. We want to littertrain (we have bad storms common here) but also train to go out. Our vet suggested using doggy diapers. I looked it up and they seem to be good. I am not a fan of paper training, as any paper on the floor can be confused with the potty pad. I don’t do the bell thing. I am going to crate train her. Her name is Annaleigha Opal. I’ll call he Anna.
So my question: What are your personal experiences with potty pads, litter boxes, and diapers for house training.
My family belives in popping dogs and rubbing in the dogs nose. I want a better alternative. Please be in detail.

In my opinion, try crate training. And that is all you need. It is so easy. The logic is simple. Puppies do not pee or poop were they sleep. There are many articles on, How to crate training online. If the puppy is out of the crate make the area the puppy runs around in, very small and in an eyes veiw. If the puppy starts to sniff and run around frantically. Take it outside or puppy pad. When it finishes praise the heck out of the puppy. treats are always good. If you find a mess on the floor, you do not scold or push its nose in it because it will not know why. If you catch it in the act. Tell them no or bad in a stern voice and bring them outside or to the puppy pad. Half the time I squeal and it freaks my pup out so she stops and then finishes outside. And that is where I praise her for going outside. A lot of patience and a lot of pee! The pup will get it. My trainer said it is like when you hear someones phone # for the first time. You do not remember it but eventually, if you hear it enough, you remember it.

First of all, if your home all day and stuff, why would u train the puppy on a puppy pad?? Its not normal for a dog to always pee in the house, then they will think that they can’t go outside.. You need to take the puppy outside.. And as for storms and stuff, there puppies, you need to remember that.. I won’t train any of my babies on puppy pads then they will start going inside anywhere and think its alright… And we have storms my dogs love the rain…

Well think of a puppy as a little baby!
Puppies forget in like 20 seconds on either what they did right or wrong.
I’d suggest using Puppy Pads…. placing them near a door or buy a couple and put’em in the common rooms your puppy will be in. Once its around 3 months or so start moving the puppy outside to go. I HIGHly suggest puppy pads. They could just be puppy pad trained for a very long time if you don’t want them to go outside to!
I wouldn’t suggest diapers….. dogs/puppies need to clean themselves after and i don’t think they’d like there poop on/near there butt after they went. Why do you think they walk away after they go?
    Well
    anyways hope i helped!

    try that site
I never heard of training a dog with diapers, omg
and your vet suggested this?Hello get a new vet
the site explains how to potty train, the pee pads work great and slowly be moved toward going outside, never ever shove a dogs nose in their accident, you take him/her close and say NO then put them on the pad…your parents shouldn’t have dogs if they are going to pop him/her…
I have small breed, during potty training they had a few accidents, but they have the potty pads inside and have never gone all over the house only on the pad,and they also go outside, mine are small breed,so the pads are great if I am running late and they need to go,they will always want to go outside first but if noone is home and nature calls they are assured the potty pad is ok..the 3rd person who answered doesn’t know as much as he thinks…
