Potty Training A 8 Month Havanese?

hi
my grandma just got a 8 month old havanese male.
This dog is great, it follows her everywhere, doesnt bark, wont run away off leash.
But the problem is it goes to the bathroom in the house.
The poo is like rocks (is that ok) so thats easy to get rid of but the pee is a lot harder to deal with.
She had him outside off leash for 20 minutes, then brought him inside and he immediatly peed on the carpet.
He has only gone once on his pee pad.
My grandma lives in a loft like thing, and she is getting http://www.hammacher.com/publish/74967.a… for it to go on on her tiny porch
Is he just stressed cause hes only been there a week?
How do u potty train a old puupy?

You should probably start from square one, crate training. A crate just big enough for him to stand up and turn around in, then follow the directions below.
At least two hours before bedtime pick up all food and water. Just before bedtime take puppy out, wait for him to eliminate, then praise quietly and put to bed in his crate.
First thing in the AM when puppy wakes up, outside, wait for it, praise! Then start your day. Keep puppy in the same room with you at all times, when you see “potty” behavior, sniffing, circling, sqwatting, scoop puppy up, outside, wait for it, praise! Say something like “get busy” or “go potty”, when praising, say “good get busy/ go potty”!
If you can’t watch puppy, in the crate with a few chewie toys, the minute puppy comes out of the crate, outside, wait for it, PRAISE!
If puppy has an accident, don’t say anything, just quietly clean it up and watch him closer next time. The key to this is consistancy, EVERY TIME puppy goes outside, lots of praise. Set him up to succeed and he will.
Eventually you will be able to take him, say the “magic” words and he will go for you. If eliminating outside ALWAYS gets praised he will start to let you know when he wants to go out. You will have to learn his signs, some dogs will sit and look at the door, some will whine and scratch, some will bark and run from you to the door.
    Hope this helps.

Crate training can cut potty training in HALF. When he pees you need to discipline him (that doesnt mean hit him) and then take him outside. Whenever he pees outside you reward him with praise “good potty” or whatever u wanna use. But never leave him around the house unsupervised. Then he will get the hint that everytime he goes in the house he gets in trouble. Trust me, this works!
