I Want Another Dog.?

I was browsing the internet the other day and I looked up dogs. I found the cutest Havanese so I showed my mom and she said it was between a yes and a no then I asked my dad he said “Absoulutley not!” I really want this dog and plus I told my parents i could feed it, walk it, train it and bathe it and even pay for it! But my dad still says that he cannot deal with another dog. But one of my friends parents can deal with four! So how do i convince my dad that im responsible and that i can take care of this puppy?

You can start by asking your dad why? Listen to him without getting emotional. Then take note of what he and your mom has said.
Now you understand there side. Do research. Get all the information on the breed of dog you want and let them know how much exercise they require, the amount of food they eat. What the dog was bred for and how you can meet the dogs needs. Let them know the size of dog, weight etc when fully grown. Then prove your commitment to the dog by asking them for a trade. Maybe good grades for a dog or house chores for two months for a dog etc. I also suggest you see if your dad likes guard dogs or lap dogs etc. Maybe your dad does not like the choice of breed you like. You may need to compromise.

Well mabey you should start doing everthing for the dog now. You can feed them, Walk them, Clean up their do do, Wash them and stuff like that. without being asked. They could realize that you are good enough to have another one.
You should do some research on dogs. Usually dogs like companiens. If you have a boy dog right now I would go for a girl because the boy dogs like to think of them as the king of the house and don’t want another male in the way.
A dog off the internet is probly one of the worst places to get a dog. So is the pet store. These places are not very good becuase they could have deises and be sick. If you are looking to get one online try petfinder.com. This is a petsite that lists pets from adoption places. You could also try looking in youyou pennsavor for good breeders.
A good place to start off with another dog is mabey foster the pet. Then your parents can see the you are responsible.

(If you try this and it does not work try going for something smaller like a guninea pig)

Do you take care of the one you have now? Maybe that is what your father is basing his decision on. Parents don’t like it when the kids beg for a dog and then the parents end up taking care of it. Try showing that you can care for the one you have which will lessen the burden of the parents. Then they might consider letting you have another one. By all means, if you get another one don’t forget about the first one!

Well you’re asking strangers how to manipulate your father. Not nice really. Every family (and father) is different, so if your father is comfortable with just one there it is. Concentrate on the one you have, it should keep you busy. In perspective, what if you weren’t allowed even one?
It may not be a question of whether or not you are responsible enough from your dad’s perspective, he has to think of the time involved in the dog you already have and your school work etc. Puppies are an amazing amount of work and even with the best of intentions of just 1 being responsible it always turns out to be a family affair, maybe others in the home have enough to do. It is a lot of work to keep a home going.
