Does Anyone Have Experience With Havanese Dogs?

I’m considering this breed for our family since we have a 5 yr old daughter. I’m told they are excellent with children. I don’t think I’ve ever known one as my past experience has been with terriers. Anyone have/had one?

I know several Havanese and own one, well she owns me lol. They are wonderful with children. The Cuban breed description says, they’ll play endlessly with children. They do however, not like to be alone, so you have to gradually teach them how to be alone at times, to help them through their tendency with separation anxiety. To find a healthy Havanese go to the Havanese club of America or the Havanese Fanciers of Canada – to find a breeder that meets certain standards of breeding this very special dog. A proper breeder will want you to visit their home and meet the adult dogs first, as the puppies are irresistible. Ideally you would have your 5 year old daughter meet the adults also to ascertain if the particular breeder is breeding Hav’s that are socialized well with children.

my friend has a havanese (she adopted him from a shelter though)
he is a great dog he gets along well with her neighbors little kids and is very well behaved. he likes to sit and cuddle but also likes to play. he is very sweet natured and cute.
just remember to talk to your daughter about respecting the dog and to not accidnently hurt him becuase of his small size.
