Usually every two or three months. However, it is essential to brush their coats two to four times a week. Also, regular eye, ear, and teeth care is required. Nails need to be trimmed every couple of weeks.

Save the dogs from the pound!! Half of them suffer their whole life in there, and you want to buy one from a breeder!! They are always messed up there! Buy from the pound kid.

as a word of caution stay away from any havanese breeders that have dogs with crooked front legs. that type of havanese carries a gene that is known to cause cardiac, liver, and eye problems. straight legged havanese do not carry this gene.

It may be kennel cough or an upper respiratory infection.
Since the vet is closed until Monday- close the bathroom door and turn on the shower as hot as you can- then take the dog into the bathroom so the steam is in it- that will help open her up.
Make sure and get her to the vet as soon as you can though.

When shopping on the web I found several who were patient and very informative. Many seemed to have fine pups but required traveling to another state. I finally chose one who is in my state because I wanted to meet the puppy and talk with the breeder then go home to think about it, since this is a lifelong commitment.
My Havanese came from Sidekick Farm. He is a happy, sharp, gentle, bouncy delight. Just what I was looking for. The breeder is always ready to help me when I email her.
Hope you find a puppy as wonderful as mine.

Simply put, yes. What is it that you are looking for in a breeder?? Are you interested in becoming involved in showing, agility, obedience??? Or do you want a breeder that will babysit for you when you are away???

If it is kennel cough, she is coughing up a white mucus, and she needs her Bordatella vaccine.
If for some reason this dog may be part chihuahua, they can reverse there epiglotti’s and make a “honking” sound but i highly doubt it would happen unless in a purebred chihuahua, but it may be something that occurs in havanese, too, i am not sure.
She may as well also have a respitory problem or some other problem. Unless she is showing obvious signs of a certain sickness, you never quite know until you take her to the vet.
But you should call your breeder to, you cought a sick puppy from comeone who didn’t get her checked if she noticed coughing before you bought her – and now you have to pay for her vet bill. Unless this is just now occuring /today/.

Your doggy has kennel cough. It is highly contagious, so do not let any other dogs around her until it is cured. It is not deadly if you seek treatment. It will be fine to take her on Monday. Kennel cough is common to dogs that used to live in close quarters. They can also catch it easily from sniffing places where infected animals were also present. It is not serious if treated early.
