I prefer Havanese myself, mainly because they come in so many different colors, where Bichons only come in white. Havanese coat is a little easier to deal with, it is silkier than a Bichon's and, if you want to keep it long, easier to keep brushed out. Bichon's tend to have very wiry, tight curls and need to be groomed every 6 to 8 weeks to keep them looking nice and to keep their skin and coats healthy. Also, Havanese are one of the genetically healthiest breeds out there. They haven't been in the hands of BYBs and puppy mills like Bichons have. It is easier to find a genetically healthy Havanese. My Havs are smart, easy to train, sturdy, funny, love kids, cats other dogs and everyone. And I think they are cuter than Bichons. (I groom a LOT of Bichons.)
