I am planning on getting one to accompany my havanese when ever my family goes out (which happens about once a week).

Havanese Training OR Behavior Problems?
Please tell me that the Chin will not be loose with the dog. It is NEVER a good idea even with a otherwise trustworthy dog to leave a chin unattended with a dog. There will be nothing but heartache. If the Chin is in a secure cage then it may work. But leaving ANY rodent alone with ANY dog is NOT a good idea.
Ok first off, i don’t find this question very clear. are you talking abotu a chinchilla rodent, or a chinchilla the type of cat? If you’re talking about the rodent one, i wouldnt reccomend it, they get stressed easily if they feel they’re under danger.
